The CWCG project has been actively employing UN recommendations since 2004
In 2007 the United Nations published a report entitled The Zambian Human Development Report. The main topic of this report was enhancing household capacity to respond to HIV and AIDS. The report states quite clearly that the Government, NGO's and traditional authorities can do a lot in this field but what should not be overlooked is the role the households can play.
The UN recommendations for households include engaging in income generating activities that have the potential to improve livelihoods; stop early marriages of girls; take HIV and AIDS into consideration in the upbringing of children; rekindle the support systems that existed in the past to respond to the epidemic.
GOOD NEWS - the CWCG Project is living proof that there are real tools available to combat the HIV/AIDS epidemic.
